CALL OUT FOR HAWKESBURY MOBILE BLACK SPOTS

Hawkesbury residents are being urged to nominate their most hated mobile blackspots across the region.

Member for Macquarie, Susan Templeman, said she has only been given until Thursday 11 October to submit a list of priority blackspots to be considered for the  latest round of Mobile Blackspot funding.

"Anyone living or driving through the Hawkesbury will know there are large areas that suffer from poor to zero mobile reception," she said. "That's not just an inconvenience; it's a big problem when bushfires are a feature of every single summer, and when accidents occur on our roads.

"I pass through at least three blackspots, if not more depending on the weather conditions, on my drive from home to Windsor.  

Ms Templeman said one of many sites already of concern is the new Tennyson Rural Fire Station.

“Here is a state of the art facility, but not a bar of mobile reception.

"There are many areas which are left completely vulnerable and without any method of communication.

"I want to hear where ALL the gaps in mobile coverage are because we need to prioritise community and emergency services' needs.

"There are already 72 registered blackspots in the Blue Mountains and Hawkesbury, but only eight have been funded. Of those, some are still awaiting construction.
