ANNIVERSARY AND CONGRATULATORY MESSAGES Main Image

We are able to provide congratulatory birthday and anniversary messages for qualifying anniversaries.

What is a qualifying anniversary?

Australians can receive a message from:

  • The Prime Minister and the Member for Macquarie:
    • on their 50th wedding anniversary and every year after; and/or
    • their 90th birthday and every year after.

  • The Governor-General, the Prime Minister and the Member for Macquarie
    • on their 50th wedding anniversary and every year after; and/or
    • on their 100th birthday and every year after.

  • The King, the Governor-General, the Prime Minister and the Member for Macquarie:
    • on their 60th wedding anniversary and every fifth year after; and/or
    • their 100th birthday and every fifth year after.

* If you did not receive a message from The King for your 60th wedding anniversary or 100th birthday you can request one for a subsequent occasion (ie: 61st wedding anniversary or 101st birthday).

You do not have to wait until your 65th wedding anniversary or 105th birthday.

What you will need:

You will need to provide supporting documentation to confirm the details of the anniversary.

* Please note: You cannot provide supporting information through the below form. Once you have submitted the anniversary request, our office will get in contact with you to request this documentation.

Supporting documentation can include:

  • copies of birth certificates, passports or marriage certificates; or
  • a statutory declaration with the relevant names and anniversary dates.

Anniversary messages can be delivered directly to the recipient or to a care-of address if you want it to be a surprise.

A copy of the supporting documentation must be included for our office to send to the Honours, Symbols & Territories Branch of Prime Minister & Cabinet

When should you submit your request?

To give the best chance of the message arriving on time, you should arrange it no later than two months before the date of the wedding/birthday anniversary.

If you are unable to submit the request this early, we will do our best to process the request in time but delivery by the anniversary/birthday cannot be guaranteed.

* Even if you missed the anniversary date, you can request a message up to six months after the birthday or wedding.

If you have any questions, please phone the Office of Susan Templeman MP on (02) 4573 8222 - we would be more than happy to help.
