Media Statement: COVID cases in the Hawkesbury

The announcement that there has been a positive COVID case in a local aged care facility and another at Hawkesbury Hospital highlights not only the need for a Hawkesbury vaccination hub, but also for in-reach services.

 

Where there is a COVID case, anyone who is not vaccinated is at a greater risk. Aged care workers expected to be offered vaccinations in their workplace when residents were vaccinated, and most people were stunned that didn’t happen.

 

They were meant to be vaccinated by Easter, but that didn’t happen.

 

This week, neither the NSW Minister for Health nor the Prime Minister would take responsibility for aged care workers – they each said it was the other’s job.
